How is it a bit "over the top" for a 1 day ban for racism? Normally racism is a perm ban.

You're unbanned already...it's only a day..deal with it.
This section is for unban requests..not the reason it is to why you are banned. And i'm pretty sure there is a "reason" section for your ban details. I might be wrong.
